SENIORPURRR'S 4 GRANDPAWS

With spring springing forward it's about that time again.... yes kitten season. Kitten season keeps the Cat Club very busy!!! but.... not so fast...  let's slow down a bit, bring it down to a  more of a grandpaws pace............... it's not spring until March 20th!!
So everyone can just calm down....relax and smell the Bengay.  
Let's take it back old school in this blog...and I mean reallll old school "senior citizen style".
Now everyone that truly knows me, knows there's nothing I love more in my 9 lives than Seniors & Cats.  
So I wanted to dedi-cat-e this blog to all my favorite seniors out there whoop whoop!!! go grandpaw it's your 100th birthday!!!.

There's so many cute kittens being born daily. So sometimes we Purrget old cats need homes too! Their 9 lives aren't over!!! So it saddens us at the cat club how many senior kitties get put down in the pounds because they weren't just born yesterday.

​THE JOYS & BENEFITS OF ADOPTING A SENIOR CAT VERSES A KITTEN

First off you know what a full grown Cat already look's like! A kitten you get at the pound may start out tiny and adorable.... but wait a few months you might have a mancoon on your paws!!! Time to get a bigger pooper scooper.

This also goes for Purrrrsonality. Sure all kittens are in general pretty sweet in the beginning, but this behavior could change! They just could grow up to be a devil cat so watch out!!! You might have to give Jackson Galaxy a ring. 
When adopting a senior kitten you pretty much know what their tempurrrement will be like. Most are lovable and just so grateful someone wants them because they are sick of being passed up for the youngin's .

Many senior kitties in the pound are owner surrenders, which (although sounds bad) is not always meaning there's something wrong with the cat.  In most cases it's the human that's in the wrong.  Or their owner could have passed on....or they weren't able to keep them due to a landlord situation....who knows, but these cats are very good pets and usually very friendly and in need of human love because they are saddened by abandonment.

Kittens are not good for children. Kittens in general are very rambunctious and they have no catrol over their claws and think everything is a toy, including your baby. Where a senior cat will either ignore a baby, or prrrhaps think of the child as their own depending on what type of instincts the adult cat has. The senior is the Winner Winner kibble dinner in any family!

​Senior cats are independent & they won't trash your house while you're gone. All seniors do is nap when you're not home.  In contrast, a kitten can cause all kinds of trouble & you'll come home to a house filled with drama. Senior cats are Purrr-fect for busy, employed or active people, or Elderly folks that can't keep up with a young wippurr snappurr kitten.

Adult cats also are less likely to have accidents (although mistakes always are in the cards with any pet getting used to a new environment.) Senior & Adult Cats are more likely to have some basic litter training. Senior Cats are most likely to have had all their shots and be fixed which is always a positive also.

​SENIORS FOR SENIORS

Cat-panion's can do wonders for your grandpaw or grandma! Introducing a Cat into an elderly purrrson's 9 lives can help improve their physical and mental health. Elderly people love spending time with animals.  They bring them joy which in turn benefits their health & lowers stress levels and blood pressure, imprrroving overall quality of life in their golden years.
What about giving your grandpaw a kitten? Not Ideal I'd say, because a kitten could out live your grandparent (rip) & end up homeless in the long run. Also a senior Cat will be more on their level energy wise. Why not help a senior kitty meowout also, when adopting a cat for the matriarch in your family .
I know my grandpaw Ori would light up every time he saw my dog pumpkin or my 20 year old cat Galaxy. He also had his own dog Charlie, which gave him happiness & a sense of purpose to stay on this earth even when he was sad! He knew that he had to get up every day and play, feed and take care of Charlie. Ori was very lonely when he lost his wife, and Charlie brightened his world. Ori lived into his 90's! I believe Charlie kept him strong & not depressed, which greatly improved the quality of his life and his health in his last years.

There are many rescues that specialize finding the right kitty for your grandpaw or grandma. Every shelter has older kitties that are just waiting to sit on a lap ready for love.
So be a hero adopt an older cat today!
